Book Bus Alumni

The Book Bus Alumni fundraising and support network

Feedback from our returning volunteers has been close on 100% favourable and the many constructive suggestions we have received will help make the project even better for future years. It is this level of enthusiasm and commitment to the Book Bus that keeps the project alive. For those of you who would like to maintain your links with the Book Bus and help us with our fundraising efforts at home we are creating Book Bus Alumni.

One of our projects in 2015 is to raise £7,000 to increase in the number of books at our Livingstone Community Library and employ a full-time local librarian. Our target of £7,000 for this campaign will cover the cost of buying books, shipping to Zambia and distribution of books and installation of library facilities. It will also pay for the salary and training of a local librarian - all part of our capacity building strategy.

If you are interested in helping us achieve our goals, contact us to discuss your fundraising plan and where you would like to concentrate your efforts. As a fundraiser for the Book Bus Foundation you will have access to Book Bus publicity material and a fundraising pack with ideas for attracting donors. As part of the Book Bus Alumni you are never alone; because we are a network, you’ll be able to keep in touch with other Alumni and fundraisers to exchange fundraising ideas and tips. Being part of the Alumni is a great opportunity to meet friends, learn new skills and put existing ones to good use. It's also a chance to be part of a team that is improving children’s lives one book at a time.

The Book Bus attends shows and events in the UK throughout the year and we often need extra help to staff our "road show". In 2013 and 2014 we attended the Hay Festival and many volunteers joined us during the week to share their experiences with the public. If you would like to join one of our Book Bus road shows, please contact us to find out more.

If you are interested in joining the fundraising Alumni, please contact us.

Thank you for your support,

How Can I Donate?
The Book Bus is a charity funded entirely through voluntary donations. Our donors have helped over five thousand children improve their reading and writing skills since 2008. In 2013/14 we are raising funds for books, classroom resources and our magnificent Book Bus fleet, your contribution will help many more children benefit from these valuable resources.
